The concept of enke was born in February 2009 and the inaugural enke: Forum was held in July of that year. The participants were representative of the diversity and potential of South Africa: coming from township, rural and urban communities, from the most under-resourced schools to the most exclusive.
In 2010 the program evolved to include structured follow-up support for participants as they returned home to impact their communities. In 2011 the organisation will once again run a single, national implementation of the program and start to lay the foundations to scale provincially over the next 5 years.
